Hello, I am Red Calvert. I live on Perdido Key in the Panhandle of Florida. This is an area that I have fished and guided for over 20 years. I started fishing in 1968 in the Coosa river in North Eastern Alabama for crappie and bass. I had miles of river banks to walk and wade fish. I learned to read water and understand where fish live. Through dribbling basketballs and coaching in two National championships throughout this free country. I was able to fish with many different people and many places. Over the years I have fished in 33 different states and 57 public lakes and rivers of Alabama. I started guide fishing in Yelloestone Park years ago along with areas of Northern California. Those were summer guide jobs when I was a basketball coach and had to find work for the summer. I have fished with some really great fisherman in the past years, Don Ivano, David Worton, Mike Mcclelland, Marty Fourkiller, Gary Yamamoto, Etc. I have had the opportunity to talk in length to fisherman like Roland Martin and Bill Dance. I also have had the opportunity to fish with many north and South Alabama Delta fisherman that probably taught me more techniques that I use today. Fisherman like Dale Steel, Capt. Scott Johnson, Jack West, Marty Barrett, Eric Davis and John Sobera. John fishes the inshore waters of Gulf Shores AL. For Specks, Redfish and Flounder. John very well may be the best inshore wade fisherman in the Gulf Coast. Marty Barrett is one of the top Bass fisherman on Gunterville and Wheeler. Eric Davis of Athens AL, is also one of the top tournament fisherman on the Tennessee river. I learned to fly fish and cast out west with Bob Jacklin from West Yellowstone was my fly cast teacher. I also learned a lot in the Northern California area on fly fishing. It also helps to fish with ” The Best Rods On Earth” St Croix. I am also on their Pro Staff. I have learned form every fisherman I have ever fished with, some more than others. A percentage of my winnings I will donate to ” Wounded Warrior Foundation” without our service heroes we would not be able to fish free.
