FLW’s coverage crew was all over the place during the Walmart FLW Tour kickoff presented by Ranger Boats on Lake Okeechobee. The following photos are some of the best taken during a week of wild weather swings and big bass.
FLW Managing Editor Curtis Niedermier caught Bradley Hallman as he strode to the stage on the final day, hoisting a fish he didn’t even have to weigh in to lock up his win in the opener.
FLW Associate Editor Jody White captured the turbulence of takeoff as Charlie Weyer put his bass boat on plane to head out for the final day of fishing on the Big O.
Greg Bohannan seems to have a good thing going at Lake Okeechobee of late, with back-to-back top-20 finishes in FLW Tour events on the big south Florida pond. Here, FLW Graphic Designer and Photo Editor D.W. Reed II found Bohannan getting everything tuned up for the day.
Bradley Hallman isn’t the most emotional guy on the water, but he celebrated pretty hard when he filled his limit with a 6-pounder on the second day. White was on hand for the action.
All that celebrating on the water led to a big check on stage for Hallman. Freelance photographer Garrick Dixon grabbed this shot of Hallman hoisting the first $100,000 check of the year.
FLW VP of Marketing Patterson Leeth caught one of Chris Johnston’s flips at the apex before the bait plummeted toward an unsuspecting bass.
Some of the most enduring images from the tournament might be of Alex Davis’ whackfest in the bushes. Here, FLW Senior Editor Kyle Wood shows him off fishing more “normal” Lake Okeechobee vegetation.
Michael Neal got his season started the right way again on Okeechobee. Wood was on hand while Neal loaded them up on the final day.
Everyone is in it on day one, and FLW Graphic Designer and Illustrator Matt Pace found Todd Hollowell trying to get in the mix with this keeper.
On day three, FLW Field Editor Rob Newell was ready when pre-tournament favorite Brandon McMillan hauled this chunk out of the reeds in an attempt to mount a comeback.
