The weather has doubled down on California this year, first continuing a long drought, then sparking devastating wildfires throughout the state.

In light of the latest spate of fires ravaging northern California, FLW has decided to reschedule the last qualifying tournament of the Rayovac FLW Series Western Division as well as concurrent college and high school events.

“Our prayers are with the hundreds of families that have lost homes to the Valley and Butte wildfires burning in California and with the thousands of firefighters working to contain the blaze,” says Kathy Fennel, FLW President of Operations. “Given the state of emergency that now exist in California, our best course of action is to reschedule the final Rayovac FLW Series Western Division qualifier, FLW College Fishing Western Conference Championship and the High School Fishing Western Conference Championship on Clear Lake. We look forward to holding these events in mid-October.”

The Rayovac event, originally scheduled for Sept. 24-26, will instead take place Oct. 15-17 out of Konocti Vita Casino Resort & Marina in Lakeport. The tournament will be held in conjunction with the FLW College Fishing Western Conference Championship Oct. 17-18, which was originally scheduled for Clear Lake Sept. 26-27. Likewise, the High School Fishing Western Conference Championship on Clear Lake has been moved to Oct. 18.

All other previously published information regarding takeoff and weigh-in locations remains unchanged.

Firefighters and emergency services personnel from throughout the country have converged on California to fight the blazes. California Governor Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency and Lake County, where Clear Lake is located, is at the epicenter of the most recent fires. The Napa Valley and so-called Butte fires have destroyed hundreds of homes and other property, injured dozens of firefighters and residents, and taken the life of at least one homeowner.
