As the second day of competition in the Rayovac FLW Series event on Grand Lake draws on, the sight-fishing bite is still strong, but day-one leader Todd Castledine has been unable to capitalize thus far.

A major thunderstorm rolled through the area shortly after takeoff that put much of the field under cover and muddied up some of the beds Todd Castledine had marked. Though he adjusted and found clearer water and more willing fish, he was still one bass shy of a limit by about noon and none of his fish were the size he needed to repeat his day-one weight of 23-13.

The rest of the field seems to be enjoying the sunny skies and light wind that the latter half of the morning provided. Almost everyone is bed-fishing, but so far second-place pro Jonathan Henry might be doing it best. He says he has about 21 pounds already, and feels comfortable enough that he may just go looking for new beds this afternoon.

As long as the nice weather sticks around, conditions should be prime for a big afternoon, so Castledine could still come in with a big bag. Even if he doesn’t, fresh fish are still moving onto the beds and it seems like weigh-in will be another barnburner.
