GROVE, Okla. – After the fog delay stalled action on day one of the Rayovac FLW Series Central Division opener on Grand Lake, the anglers are now enjoying perfect weather for sight-fishing. Lingering light fog and clouds gave way to calm, sunny conditions this afternoon.

The field spread out more than anticipated, which has led to more anglers picking a pocket and hunkering down. There’s no question that someone could work a single pocket and catch 15 pounds. The only speed bump is getting the stubborn fish to bite. We saw several anglers working fish on beds and giving up out of frustration. To stay or to go is the mental game going on now.

The majority of action so far has been from bedding fish, though a few anglers have reported having luck by targeting prespawn fish. Earlier in the day, fishing was tough for the guys looking to catch fish off beds. The conditions just made it difficult, and a few anglers said they lost several bass because they couldn’t see what the bait was doing.

It’s a whole new ball game now, however. In the last few hours of the day, anglers should see new fish pushing up to the bank, and action should heat up for the field. Catching a limit shouldn’t be an issue. The hardest hurdle will be boating a kicker or two in order to break outside that 14- to 16-pound mark. Expect to see several bags hovering around 20 pounds by the time the scale closes this afternoon.

Check back at 3 p.m. CT to see the action unfold on FLWFishing.com.
