The Forrest Wood Cup presented by Walmart and hosted by Capital City/Lake Murray Country offers great opportunity for both the anglers and fishing fans to get in on some valuable summertime action. The pros that qualified for the Cup this season will all take home a piece of bass fishing’s biggest prize package. And the fans that come to Columbia Aug. 14-17 can shop at the FLW Expo, where some of the biggest names in outdoor retail and tackle manufacturing will be on hand to sell great fishing gear. Of course, no one will walk away hungry thanks to the Bass & BBQ festival, where Expo-goers can sample some lip-smackin’ smoked meals.

But that just gets the excitement started. FLW has also lined up a weekend of great live music as part of the Forrest Wood Cup concert series.

This year’s headlining act will be country music recording artist Rodney Atkins. Atkins has six No. 1 hits, including “These are My People,” “Cleaning this Gun” and “Take a Back Road.” His performance will be held inside Colonial Life Arena on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 4 p.m. Presenting this awesome concert with FREE admission is 97.5 WCOS-FM. Following Atkins’ performance, fans will witness the always-suspenseful final weigh-in of the Forrest Wood Cup, where one angler will walk away with $500,000. After the weigh-in, a lucky fan in the crowd will win a Ranger Z521 powered by Mercury.

Two more exciting concerts will be held on Saturday and Sunday on the outdoor concert stage from 2 to 3 p.m. in conjunction with the Bass & BBQ festival. The concert stage will be on Lincoln Street outside Colonial Life Arena and the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The first concert on Saturday, Aug. 16, will be Nashville country music artist Jeremy McComb. McComb brings a lot of energy to the stage, and he just released his newest single “Love Song.” The John Wesley Satterfield Band will follow up that performance on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 2 to 3 p.m. on the same stage. Wesley has roots in Columbia as a South Carolina Gamecocks alumnus. He has more than 20 years of experience in the music industry and blends country and rock in his playlist.
