(Editor’s note: Moving forward, FLWOutdoors.com will be unveiling a host of new editorial content focusing exclusively on FLW Tour pros. The latest in that effort is a feature entitled “Five Questions” where FLW editors will attempt to pick the minds of FLW Tour pros by posing questions ranging from the serious to the light-hearted. The ultimate goal is for readers to get to know the thoughts, opinions and personalities of some of the best anglers the sport has to offer).

Q&A with Keystone Light pro Brent Ehrler

What do you think of the upcoming 2014 FLW Tour schedule?

Keystone Light pro Brent Ehrler is poised for the day's action on the Red River.“After looking at the scheduled, it really makes me wish I lived in a more centrally located place. It’d be a nicer to live closer (to the tournament venues) so I could do more pre-practicing. I think, for me personally, it’s going to be harder to compete this year because so many of the guys live a lot closer to those lakes and will have a lot more time on the water than me. A lot of the guys can drive out to most of those lakes in less than half of a day, so a lot of the (field) is going to be pretty clued in by the time tournament time comes around. Overall though, the schedule looks nice and the season should be a lot of fun.”

What do you think of the recent decision to prohibit the use of the Alabama rig in FLW Tour competition?

Brent Ehrler catches another buck from the reeds.“I agreed with the decision. And I was one of the people who said so in the survey that (FLW) sent out. I realize that you just can’t pick up that bait and instantly catch fish. However, there are certain times of the year where the odds of cashing a check go way up if you use that bait as opposed to fishing other types of baits. It got to be kind of a, `If all else fails, let’s pick up this bait and see what happens,’ type of situation. I also like the fact that I don’t have to pack nearly as much tackle now heading into the 2014 season because that (A-rig setup) takes up about half the space in your truck. So, overall, I’m pretty happy with the rule changes.”

What is the most overused cliche in tournament bass fishing?

“I lost a big one.”

If you fell out of contention for a title during an FLW Tour event, who would you root for to pull out a victory?

Pro Brett Hite shows off his catch.“Brett Hite.”

What music are you listening to these days?

“I’m bad. A lot of people know I listen to rap music. But I’m probably the only guy in country who has the Fox News Channel and a rap station right next to each other on their Sirius Satellite (favorites) lists.”
