Q&A

CollegeFishing.com: How were you introduced to fishing?

Shane Powell: My dad has taken me bream fishing my whole life, but his good friend got me into bass fishing.

Jordan Lee: I was introduced to fishing at my grandfather’s pond. I caught some really big fish one day and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

CollegeFishing.com: What style/method of fishing are you most comfortable with?

Shane Powell: I like fishing shallow vegetation and wood. Overall, sight-fishing is my favorite but I still need some work at it.

Jordan Lee: I’m most comfortable flipping to shallow cover.

CollegeFishing.com: What did it feel like to qualify for the 2013 FLW College Fishing National Championship? How do you plan to prepare for the big event?

Shane Powell: It’s an honor to be fishing for a chance to compete in the Forrest Wood Cup as well as the potential of being crowned national champion. Jordan and I have fished many tournaments together but this is our first time fishing FLW as a team. And so far it has worked out as our worst finish together in FLW competition is second place – so we are excited! We plan on going to Beaver the weekend of cutoff and then showing up for official practice.

Jordan Lee: It felt great! It’s my third and final championship so I’m looking forward to it. We will fish during the pre-practice period for a few days as well.

CollegeFishing.com: Tell us something interesting about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.

Shane Powell: I thought fishing was one of the most boring ways to spend a day until I was about 14.

Jordan Lee: My two front teeth are fake.
