FLW confirmed late Monday night that Redlands, Calif., pro Brent Ehrler was involved in a serious automobile accident Monday afternoon outside of Atlanta, Ga. Ehrler was in the area practicing for the upcoming Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Lanier.
While details are still emerging, Ehrler did not sustain any significant injuries. While his hand and abdomen are sore, X-rays and a CT scan proved negative and Ehrler was discharged from the hospital Monday evening.
Ehrler’s family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
Update: The Forsyth News, citing a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office press release, is now reporting that the other individual involved, 58-year-old Clara Garmon, was killed in the accident. The release states that Garmon was traveling west on Ga. Highway 53, approaching the intersection with Truman Mountain Road. Ehrler was traveling east on Ga. Highway 53 and getting into the turning lane to turn onto Truman Mountain Road. Garmon hydroplaned and lost control of her vehicle. She crossed into the turning lane and struck Ehrler head on.
