I always have a bundle of spare rods with me in case I break one or two during a tournament. I’ve found that the best way to keep them from getting beat up and banged around is to use some 3M Painter’s Tape to bind them together. The tape is easy to wrap with, you can tear it like paper, and you don’t have to worry about damaging a rod’s finish. It comes off easy and doesn’t leave any sticky residue behind, either. When you need to get a rod out, just tear the tape and get it and wrap the rest back up. When you’re ready to go home, use some new tape to wrap up the bundle of rods again and head on down the road. I wish I’d tried Painter’s Tape a long time ago; it could have saved me a lot of aggravation.
