During the postspawn period of early summer, a lot of bass are still cruising the banks in a sort of in-between stage and can be pretty nonaggressive.
I like to use a Lucky Craft Gunfish 115 topwater lure that time of year, and if I see bass following it back to the boat without actually hitting it, I’ll immediately cast out a Yamamoto Senko rigged wacky style with a 1/0 weedless Wacky Owner hook. A lot of times that slow, suspending bait is what it takes to trigger a sluggish bass.
