When Lowrance chose the term “high-definition” for its new system, it may have simply been because their depth finders offer aquarium clarity. But the name has much deeper meaning.

The High-Definition System is truly that, a system. Between the multifunction displays, the top sounder technology, fully integrated weather and radar solutions, and an easy-to-use operating system, the HDS provides clarity to an angler’s surroundings, not just what’s below the boat.

The HDS features Lowrance’s award-winning Broadband Sounder technology that takes the guesswork out of distinguishing a ball of bait from a clump of weeds on the screen and has full 120-degree wide-angle coverage.

Lowrance didn’t scrimp on the rest of the system, either. HDS features support for the full line of Navionics maps, along with GPS chartplotting, that includes Insight cartography for lifelike perspectives Lowrance HDS 8of bottom structure and topography. SIRIUS weather- and satellite-radio capabilities, turnkey radar support, and the ability to manage fuel, engine and boat operations mean the HDS has more gadgets and programs than an electronics store.

Plus, Lowrance made sure HDS is flexible enough to accommodate future-generation updates and products so it never becomes obsolete. Four screen sizes between 5 and 10.4 inches are available. (lowrance.com)
