Fantasy blog: Rank 7 Bonus and Powerhook

February 5, 2009 • MLF • Archives

If you have surfed around the Fantasy Fishing site this year to prep your team for the season opener on Lake Guntersville, you might have noticed two new fantasy games: Rank 7 Bonus and Powerhook.

These are two additional games that have been added in the FLW Fantasy Fishing lineup to give you a chance at some serious money – the kind of money that could make you not just a millionaire, but a multimillionaire.

Essentially, the Rank 7 Bonus happens automatically when you enter a Fantasy Team for each FLW Tour tournament (see official rules for complete details). If you should be so lucky as to pick the top seven pros in their exact finishing order, you win $5 million bucks. So there are 5 million more reasons to study Player’s Advantage and get your picks in for each and every Walmart FLW Tour event.

The Powerhook game is basically an early invitation to pick the top five finishers (again, in the correct order) in the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup. Winning the Powerhook would reward you another $3 million in spending money.

The only catch is you must make your picks for Powerhook before the Guntersville FLW Tour event starts (before midnight on Feb. 11, 2009; see official rules for complete details).

Okay, I know what you’re saying: how can I pick the top five when I don’t even know who has qualified for the Forrest Wood Cup?

Actually, almost half of the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup field has already been set through FLW Series and Stren qualifications and there are some pretty stout candidates already in the Forrest Wood Cup Field, such as Mike Iaconelli, Shin Fukae, Brent Ehrler and Dion Hibdon.

You can fill your top-5 with those pros who have already qualified for the Cup through the Series and Strens or you can take a chance on some of the perennial Cup qualifiers who always seem to get a berth from the FLW Tour: Dave Lefebre, Clark Wendlandt, Michael Bennett or Luke Clausen would certainly be good possibilities. Or better yet, mix it up. Take three or four pros who have already qualified and toss in one two who have not.

The point is you can’t win Powerhook unless you play and you must enroll your team by February, 11, 2009. Go to fantasyfishing.com, click on the Powerhook banner and there you will find a roster of pros to pick from. Pros who have already qualified for the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup are noted in the roster so if you want to pick only pros who have definitely qualified, you can certainly do so.

By the way, if you win the Rank 7 Bonus for $5 million and the Powerhook for $3 million for a grand total of $8 million, maybe you could keep your favorite Fantasy Fishing blogger in mind …
