Jack Wade reentered the Wal-Mart FLW Tour in 2007 like a man with something to prove, and he made his case with two top-10 finishes, including at the season-ending Forrest Wood Cup. After a handful of years away from the tour, Wade firmly reestablished himself as one of the bass pros to watch this year when he picked up an outstanding sixth-place finish at the Potomac River, and fans took notice, awarding him the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award for that event.

The pro from Knoxville, Tenn., picked up $32,000 in tour earnings en route to qualifying for the championship, where he cashed another check for $25,000, bringing his total FLW Outdoors career earnings to just shy of $100,000. With the addition of the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award, there’s no doubt that Wade made 2007 his best season yet on the FLW Tour.

It was at the Potomac where FLW Outdoors fans took note of Wade’s dazzling hook set and made him a contest winner, despite going head to head with both the winner and runner-up of the tournament. Jack Wade of Knoxville, Tenn., leads all pros out of the opening round at the Potomac River with a two-day weight of 37-13.Wade beat out fellow touring pros Chris Baumgardner, who won on the Potomac, and David Dudley, who placed second, for the Hook Set Award. Those casting online ballots in the contest made Wade the winner after viewing fishing footage from the event that appeared both on the “FLW Outdoors” TV show on FSN (Fox Sports Net) as well as at FLWOutdoors.com. For his impressive hook set, Wade earned a $500 Wal-Mart shopping card.

Eagle Claw Hook Set Award voters were able to choose from video footage of three pro anglers’ hook sets as captured by camera crews during the June 14-17 FLW Tour event on the Potomac River near Washington, D.C.
