Having fished the Wal-Mart FLW Tour since its inception 11 years ago, pro Tracy Adams of Wilkesboro, N.C., had landed innumerable sacks of bass and raked in almost $300,000 in career earnings through FLW Outdoors events as the circuit neared the end of its 2006 regular season. The only thing eluding the veteran angler was a win. New York’s Lake Champlain fixed that for Adams, and it also brought him a nice bonus in the form of an Eagle Claw Hook Set Award.

Adams celebrated summer with a June 21 win on Champlain and added $100,000 to his career earnings. As the summer drew to a close, fishing fans and FLWOutdoors.com visitors made Adams a two-time winner by voting him to the top of the Eagle Claw Hook Set Award for one of his impressive Lake Champlain catches.

In the Hook Set Award contest, Adams squared off against two fellow FLW Tour stalwarts – Kevin Vida and Dion Hibdon, who finished in second and third place, respectively, at Champlain. But it was Adams’ hook set, as captured by TV cameras, which wowed the fishing faithful. Those casting online Tracy Adams takes home his first FLW Tour trophy, at Lake Champlain, after 10 years on tour.ballots in the contest crowned Adams the Hook Set Award champ, based on fishing footage that appeared both on the “FLW Outdoors” TV show on FSN (Fox Sports Net) as well as at FLWOutdoors.com. Adams earned a $500 Wal-Mart gift card for the win.

Eagle Claw Hook Set Award voters were able to choose from video footage of three pro anglers’ hook sets as captured by camera crews during the June 18-21 FLW Tour event on Lake Champlain near Plattsburgh, N.Y. The contest and award are presented by Eagle Claw.

FSN provides FLWOutdoors.com with video footage of three of the best hook sets from each FLW Tour event throughout the season. The hook sets are seen on FSN’s “FLW Outdoors” program, which airs Sundays at 11 a.m. Eastern, and are then viewable at FLWOutdoors.com. After voting has closed for a given contest, the winner will be announced on television and through this Web site.

The Hook Set Award contest is free and open to anyone 21 years of age or older who wants to go online to vote for their favorite footage. Use this article to link to the contest or access it through FLWOutdoors.com’s home page in the left-hand navigation column.
