The first Eagle Claw Hook Set Award of 2006 went to pro Kelly Jordon of Mineola, Texas, who picked up his third career Wal-Mart FLW Tour top-10 when the circuit kicked off its season on Lake Okeechobee in January. Even going up against hot shots like 2004 Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year Shinichi Fukae and FLW Tour veteran Chip Harrison, Jordon still pulled in nearly twice as many votes as either of the other contest competitors. FSN’s cameras caught Jordon’s thrilling catch, and online visitors in the Hook Set Award helped him earn a $500 gift card to Wal-Mart with their votes.

Eagle Claw Hook Set Award voters were able to choose from video footage of three pro anglers’ hook sets as filmed by FSN’s camera crews for the “FLW Outdoors” TV show during the Jan. 18-21 FLW Tour event on Lake Okeechobee near Clewiston, Fla. Fishing fans declared Jordon the winner, and he will receive the shopping card for the award, which, along with the contest, is presented by <a FLW Tour pro Kelly Jordon says bass can be caught on top when the sun is high, or in the postspawn phase.href=”/redirect.cfm?sponsorid=55″ target=”_blank”>Eagle Claw.

Jordon’s Hook Set Award footage, which was seen on “FLW Outdoors” on FSN and FLWOutdoors.com, garnered nearly twice as many votes as footage of the other two pros being featured, and Harrison narrowly edged out Fukae for second-most votes.

FSN provides FLWOutdoors.com with video footage of three of the best hook sets from each FLW Tour event throughout the season. The hook sets are seen on FSN’s “FLW Outdoors” program, which airs Sundays at 11 a.m. Eastern, and are then viewable at FLWOutdoors.com. After voting has closed for a given contest, the winner will be announced on television and through this Web site.

The Hook Set Award contest is free and open to anyone 21 years of age or older who wants to go online to vote for their favorite footage. Use this article to link to the contest or access it through FLWOutdoors.com’s home page in the left-hand navigation column.
