With the 1st Annual ESPN Great Outdoor Games set to begin this week, OperationBass.com would like to remind all FLW fans that we will be covering the ESPN professional bass fishing competition in its entirety.

Although the Games are scheduled to take place from July 20-23 in Lake Placid, N.Y., the bass fishing competition – one of many outdoor events – will take place on Sat. July 22 and Sun. July 23. OperationBass.com will be on location in an effort to provide extensive coverage including results and updates of Saturday’s competition as well as results and breaking news of Sunday’s championship round. If possible, OperationBass.com will begin preliminary coverage of the bass fishing tournament as early as Friday, July 21.

Ten anglers will be participating in the first-ever ESPN professional bass fishing competition: Randy Blaukat of Lamar, Mo.; Stephen Browning of Hot Springs, Ariz.; Steve Daniel of Clewiston, Fla.; Keith Green of Arkadelphia, Ark.; Guido Hibdon of Gravois Mills, Mo.; Randy Howell of Trustville, Ala.; Scott Martin of Clewiston, Fla.; Carl Svebek of Sam Rayburn, Texas; Peter Thliveros of Jacksonville, Fla; and 2000 Land O’ Lakes FLW Angler of the Year, Clark Wendlandt of Cedar Park, Texas.

The format will be as follows: On day one of competition, all 10 anglers will be competing for the best five-fish limit. After weigh-in, the field will be reduced to the five finalists with the largest fish totals. On day two, the five top competitors will head out on Lake Placid once again with a clean slate – ie. Day-one fish totals will not be factored into the final round of competition. The finalist with the largest five-fish catch on day two will be declared the champion.

ESPN has allocated $21,000 in prize money for the competition.
