Power fishing was the name of the game at the Costa FLW Series Central Division opener

1. Top pro Jeff Fitts caught all of his bass flipping grass with a Strike King Rage Tail Rage Bugs. He alternated between black/blue and summer craw.

2. Taking second place, Daniel Kweekul targeted stumps and timber in prespawn staging areas with a swim jig and a Texas-rigged Yamamoto Senko. On day three, the latter proved most productive.

3. Teddy Bogard targeted pockets with pad stems with a Bama bug-colored Z-Man ChatterBait fitted with a sapphire blue trailer.

4. Todd Castledine, who led days one and two, relied on the new (not yet released) Strike King Poppin’ Perch and a Strike King tube around overhanging trees.

5. A Strike King KVD 2.5 Square Bill in orange belly craw and a 3/8-ounce JIG-SOOIE finesse jig in Arkansas craw with a NetBait Paca Craw trailer did the trick for fifth-place pro Evan Barnes.

6. Zach King caught his sixth-place fish on a Texas-rigged junebug-color Zoom Lizard, a 5/16-ounce War Eagle spinnerbait and an XCalibur Xr50 lipless crankbait in Rayburn red.

7. Flipping a Texas-rigged YUM Christie Critter and casting a ChatterBait with a YUM Pulse swimbait around laydowns produced well for seventh-place pro Christopher Jones.

8. Focusing on riprap near bridges, eighth-place pro Greg Jones caught his fish on a Rapala Shad Rap and a Texas-rigged tube.

9. Working primarily lily pad cover, Joe McClary caught most of his fish on a black and blue swim jig with a Zoom Swimmin’ Super Fluke trailer.

10. Tenth-place pro Brandon Hunter caught his fish on a Nichols spinnerbait and a Lucky Craft LC 1.5 DD in pearl threadfin and tomato shad colors fished along riprap.
