Louisiana angler Dylan Poche, who was just beginning his career as a professional bass fisherman, was stabbed to death late Saturday night. Police say they have a suspect in custody.

Poche, of Natchez, La., had finished fourth place in the Toledo Bend FLW Bass Fishing League event Jan. 23. On Saturday, Jan. 30, just before midnight, he was stabbed at Sibley Lake Boat Ramp in the Oak Grove community of Natchitoches, La. The police and paramedics responded to 911 calls, and the 18-year-old Poche was transported to a local hospital. There he was pronounced dead by the Natchitoches Parish coroner’s office.

He fished one tournament in the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference and a BFL on the Red River in 2015. He was the nephew of professional angler Keith Poche.

Police are still investigating, and more information will be posted as it is made known.
