Early goings on Lake Texoma seem to be pretty tough for the Rayovac FLW Series field. From the water, FLW Website Content Manager Jesse Schultz reported seeing several anglers bed-fishing in the GrandPappy Point Resort & Marina area. Most were putting in a lot of time on each fish, which means the bass weren’t exactly snapping.

Today’s calm, sunny, post-cold front conditions are, no doubt, helping anglers see their targets clearly, but the visibility works both ways. Someone’s going to find the right bank with just enough water tint to relax the fish and deliver a nice sack, but it’s likely that many will struggle through a tough day.

Those who shift their efforts toward postspawn patterns such as docks and deeper vegetation will likely find more cooperative fish.

In the co-angler division, we’re likely to see mostly meager catches from those paired with sight-fishing pros. That’s a tough part of the game, but when the guy on the front has the nose pointed at the bank, opportunities are few and far between off the back of the boat.

Best bet here is for co-anglers to drag a worm or a Carolina-rigged lizard out in the deeper water in hopes of nabbing a prespawner moving up or a postspawner moving out.

Notably, after a windy practice, today’s calm conditions will allow anglers to run all over the lake and try various areas. That could become a key factor in terms of enabling anglers to cover lots of water and scrap around for bites.
