Updates are coming in from FLW’s On The Water crew, and right now reports are mixed. Several anglers have checked in with small limits. Others have shown off nice kickers. But as of now, no one who has checked in with an OTW team member has put a limit together with a solid kicker as an anchor.

Bridgford pro Luke Clausen and veteran Stacey King have probably had the best morning of anyone we’ve checked with. Clausen caught a limit and culled early. Ironically, he caught several fish right outside the Toho lock where other anglers were waiting to pass through – burning up potentially valuable fishing time.

King's details are still rolling in. All we know now is that he's got 20 pounds in the livewell, and he's our unofficial early leader.

Wesley Strader, David Fritts, Rob Kilby, Clent Davis, Michael Neal and a few others have 4-plus-pounders in their livewells. We’re monitoring their progress right now, so stay tuned for updates to see if they can add more hawgs to their bags.

Elsewhere, pros are sight-fishing and scanning the shallows with little luck. They’re catching small buck bass right now, but most expect bigger females to arrive later in the day.

It could definitely happen. The air temperature is in the mid-70s. Scattered clouds are clipping across the sky, pushed by a steady wind that has just a hint of early spring chill. The sun is shining through intermittently, and when it does it steadily warms up the system’s spawning areas. Should the cloud cover break for good this afternoon we could see a major spawning push.

The field is pretty evenly split between Toho and Kissimmee, with Kissimme taking a slight edge in terms of total anglers. We also just received a report that the wind is bucking at a steady clip on Kissimmee, which could hamper the sight-bite if spawning females slide up.

In summary, there are a lot of factors piling up on Lake Toho right now. Pros need to figure out the puzzle today with the spawn on the verge of busting open, else they might find themselves too far back tomorrow to make the cut into the weekend.

Stay tuned for a midday update around lunchtime.
