Notes: The bass fishing on the Mississippi River is expected to be excellent. The water has been high due to recent rains, but it is likely to be near normal levels by competition time. Typical summertime patterns are expected to prevail and a lot of fish should be caught. Anglers will probably target the plentiful grass and main-river current breaks. Popular baits will include topwater frogs, jigs, spinnerbaits, a variety of soft plastics, swimjigs and crankbaits. The winner is expected to bring about 17 pounds to the scale.

Notes: The bass fishing on Kentucky and Barkley should be very good. Bass will be in their summertime patterns and could be found at a variety of depths. The ledges that Kentucky Lake is famous for figure to play a starring role, but some anglers could find fish around shallow cover. Baits such as crankbaits, jigs, drop-shot rigs, swimbaits, topwater baits, spoons, umbrella rigs, and Carolina rigs are expected to be common choices. The winner of this event will likely need to bring a five-bass limit weighing around 22 pounds to the scale.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the Rayovac FLW Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
