James Watson shows off his catch.

Hillsboro, Ore. - FLW Tour pro James Watson has joined Maxima USA Fishing Line's rapidly expanding Pro-Team, which already includes four-time winning FLW Tour pro Ish Monroe.

James Watson is another fast-moving angler on the FLW Tour. So fast in fact, Watson moved from a 130th ranking in 2012 to 23rd last year. He looks to 2014 as his breakout opportunity.

"Having great support from sponsors like Maxima Fishing Line is the final tool I've needed in my tackle box," said Watson. "While my sponsorship with Maxima is now official, Maxima line has been on my reels since day one."

During springtime, FLW Tour pro Ish Monroe shows off his catch.Ish Monroe joined the Maxima Pro-Team in 2013 after fishing Maxima his entire career. Monroe is a three-time Forrest Wood Cup qualifier, nine-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier and five-time TTBC qualifier. He's exceeded the $2,000,000 career earning mark fishing Maxima Line. Prominent appearances and spirited competitiveness on the hit TV series, Major League Fishing, has raised his popularity even more.

Led by Ish Monroe, all of Maxima's Pro-Team will have the entire arsenal of line types and weights to choose from, but Maxima's new Braid 8 will be getting the majority of reel time. Maxima Braid 8 is made from a proprietary fiber and is produced using round construction braiding that's essential to casting effectiveness. Braid 8 is pre-stretched and heat fixed to optimize strength and sensitivity and also features a new triple coating treatment which helps with abrasions and further benefits casting.

Dobson Dominates 1000 Islands

Scott Dobson didn’t expect it to come so quickly, but 30 minutes is all it took for him to find the winning pattern during his first day of practice for the Costa FLW Series Northern Division event presented by Mercury at 1000 Islands. That pattern would lead him to three consecutive limits of more than 20 pounds, including today’s final-round bag worth 21-12 – the day’s biggest limit, yet his smallest of the tournament. His three-day total weight of 68-8 earned him a check for more than $37,000 along with a Ranger Z518C with a 200-hp engine for being Ranger Cup qualified. READ MORE »

Dobson Drops 24-9

Despite the weights being dropped on the scale for the opening round of the Costa FLW Series Northern Division event on the 1000 Islands presented by Mercury, it has actually been a tough day of fishing. Dobson utilized both the river and lake for his limit, which could play to his advantage if the wind blows like the weathermen are forecasting tomorrow. READ MORE »
