Hullspeed Performance Marine Coating announced this week that it will be represented by two anglers in the major league of bass fishing: the Walmart FLW Tour. HullSpeed’s 2014 presence on the tour will showcase its newest product, Smart Armor, which is a protectant/ performance hull coating.

The HullSpeed team will consist of Skip Johnson of Goodels, Mich., and RC Cooper of Nashua, N. H. Although both anglers will be making their rookie debut on the 2014 Walmart FLW Tour, they are no strangers to the professional level of competition. While Johnson and Cooper are regarded as smallmouth specialists now, they’ve earned their stripes in numerous professional tournament circuits across the nation as well as in amateur tournaments in their respective states.

Johnson grew up on the highly pressured waters of southern California where he frequently dominated local events. He’s now a full-time Lake St. Clair smallmouth guide and has produced some impressive finishes at the professional level as well as winning the 2012 Michigan TBF State Championship.

“I’ve waited my whole life to put my skills up against the best fishermen in the world and there is no better place to do that than the FLW Tour,” says Johnson. “With the help of my new title sponsor, HullSpeed Performance Marine Coatings, and with the support of my beautiful wife and three young sons, I finally get my shot. I’m very confident, comfortable, and ready to get the season started.”

Cooper launched his career on one of the toughest fisheries in the country, the Ohio River, near his childhood hometown of Madison, Ind. Cooper also has an extensive background competing at the amateur level on Midwestern reservoirs as well as the Tennessee River system.

“I’m honored to be selected to represent HullSpeed at the Tour level,” notes Cooper. “We all have our individual motivations to perform at our best – mine is simply for my family, my sponsors and for all the anglers out there who never got their chance or are still waiting to take their shot. This one’s for you. I’m ready to get to work.”
