PADUCAH, Ky. – Fishing industry veteran Troy Hollowell recently announced that he will compete on the Walmart FLW Tour as a pro in 2014.

Hollowell’s move to the pro ranks follows a successful 2013 campaign, where he finished 10th in the EverStart Series Central Division Angler of the Year standings. Like many of the rising stars on today’s FLW Tour, Hollowell started by fishing weekend-level BFL events as a co-angler in 2003 and has steadily progressed through the ranks, which included fishing the 2013 FLW Tour as a co-angler. The Indiana native who now calls Paducah, Ky., home says he is ready to launch his professional career and looks forward to a 2014 schedule that sets up perfectly for his fishing strengths.

“This has been a longstanding dream of mine, to travel the country as a professional angler fishing against the best bass fishermen in the world and helping to promote my industry partners along the way,” said Hollowell. “While I’m still in the process of securing title sponsorship and promotional opportunities to help support my career, the 2014 FLW Tour schedule offers me an opportunity to succeed on and off the water. I’ve considered Kentucky Lake my home for the last 10 years, and I’m definitely most skilled as an offshore fisherman. I feel I can compete with the best when the tour stops at Kentucky Lake and nearby Lake Pickwick during the prime ledge-fishing season next summer.”

Hollowell, 31, graduated from Murray State University in 2007 with a degree in business administration. He worked for four years in the B.A.S.S. Operations division, setting up satellite feeds for the outdoor media at Bassmaster Elite Series events. Hollowell also worked for FLW on the Walmart FLW Tour for two years and spent one season as an FLW College Fishing tournament director.

“While I was on the road 25 to 30 weeks a year, it was such a blessing. My wife and I were able to see just how beautiful our country is from coast-to-coast, and the people at FLW are like family to me,” Hollowell said.

Currently, Hollowell is sponsored by Denali Rods, Kustom Kicker Jigs, and two non-endemic companies.

In addition to fishing the 2014 FLW Tour, Hollowell will appear on the February episode of Bass Dr. on the World Fishing Network alongside his brother, fellow FLW Tour pro, and show’s host, Todd Hollowell. The two will also travel together in 2014. Troy said, “We’ve taken different paths to get to this point, but fishing the FLW Tour together has been a goal of both of ours for a long time. Our family has always supported us 100 percent, which is a big reason we’ve come this far. It’s pretty exciting to see it all coming together.”

Hollowell is happy to work with members of the outdoor media, and welcomes their requests at [email protected] or 502-517-6897. He is also recruiting additional endemic and non-endemic sponsors for promotional partnerships for the upcoming season.
