The General Larry Nixon will head into the 2013 Walmart FLW Tour season with some changes on his jersey. The 62-year-old pro who has 20 career top-10 finishes has signed with four new sponsors for the upcoming season – Yamamoto Custom Baits, Luck-E-Strike, Dobyns Rods and Seaguar.
“I’ve seen so many changes in my lifetime in the fishing industry,” said the Bee Branch, Ark., native. “This new opportunity has given me the chance to get together with some long-time friends of mine.
“Gary (Yamamoto) was one of the first people I talked to for a sponsorship. I have known him for a very long time and I have used his plastics over the years – there is simply nothing better. I am excited to get to work with Gary, and we are already talking about a new worm I want to help design.”
Nixon is also looking forward to working closely with some other good friends in the fishing world.
“Gary Dobyns is a good friend of mine that I have known from the Evinrude Pro Team,” said Nixon. “I have used several different brands of rods over the years, but I truly believe he makes the best line of rods in the industry.”
Luck-E-Strike and Seaguar are the two other sponsors that Nixon added to help fill the five sponsor categories he has available for 2013. He is still looking to add a fifth category to his sponsor line up – a reel category – but jokingly said that he has plenty of reels to get him started for the season.
