Alabama angler Alex Davis, known in the fishing industry as “The Spinnerbait Kid,” has committed to fishing the 2013 Walmart FLW Tour. After capturing a top 10 at the 2011 FLW Tour Open on Lake Guntersville, Davis landed a victory this past season at the EverStart Southeast Division event also held on Guntersville.

Born in Virginia, Davis got his first taste of bass fishing at a young age. When he was 8, his family moved to Colorado where he would continue to pursue his passion. After joining a local bass club he realized that his dream was to fish professionally on the FLW Tour. As his skills progressed so did the thoughts of moving south to turn that dream into a reality. With the support of his family, Davis picked up and moved to Lake Guntersville in 2005. Soon after he started the Spinnerbait Kid Guide service and he now spends around 200 days per year on the water.

“I have been working for this for a long time,” said the 27-year-old. “With how the FLW Tour Open and EverStart event went for me, it really made the financial part of the decision easier. Those tournaments showed me that my fishing skills are up to par and I feel like I am ready.

“This is about as good of a time as any to try to fish the Tour. I’m single and don’t have any kids or anything to worry about – so the timing is perfect.”

Davis’ sponsors for 2013 will include: Halo Fishing, Vicious Fishing, Strike King, Power-Pole and Mercury.
