Boater Kevin Spears of New Boston, Ohio, caught four bass weighing 5 pounds, 12 ounces Aug. 20 to win $2,934 in the Walmart BFL Buckeye Division tournament on the Ohio River in Maysville, Ky. Spears was using the Zara Spook Bone on the main river.

Steve Sorrell of Beavercreek, Ohio, earned $1,423 as the co-angler winner of the Aug. 20 BFL Buckeye event.

Steve Sorrell of Beavercreek, Ohio, caught three bass weighing 4 pounds, 2 ounces to win $1,423 in the Co-angler Division. Sorrell used white spinnerbaits around the dam on the main river.

Coming up

The next BFL Buckeye Division tournament is scheduled for Sept. 17-18 and will return to the Ohio River in Maysville, Ky. After the fifth Buckeye Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 13-15 Regional Championship on Smith Mountain Lake in Huddleston, Va. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
