WABASHA, Minn. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to the Mississippi River at Wabasha, Minn., July 9 for the third of five stops in the Great Lakes Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“The water’s up a little bit right now, but everything’s biting and this should be a great tournament,” said FLW Tour pro Tom Monsoor of La Crosse, Wis. “Guys will have a lot of luck fishing back in the backwaters with frogs. Guys will also be out on the main channel, fishing for largemouth and smallmouth on current breaks. They’ll also be fishing ditches with swimming jigs and hopping jigs.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Wabasha City Ramp at Ike’s Park located at 707 4th St. W. in Wabasha, Minn. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Mississippi River/Wabasha BFL tournament is being hosted by the Wabasha-Kellogg Chamber/CVB.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
