STOCKTON, Mo. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Stockton Lake April 30 for the third of five stops in the Ozark Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Fishing on Stockton depends on the water level,” said Pickens Plan pro Randy Blaukat of Joplin, Mo. “If the water’s high, the primary method will be flipping vegetation and cover and that will dominate the tournament. It will be a lot of sight-fishing if the water’s low – lots of swimbaits and shallow cranking.

“Stockton fits in the geographical break of the Ozarks and plains of Missouri, so it has a lot of rocky banks, clean water and river systems that feed the lake,” Blaukat added. “There’s a lot of diversity of cover. And there are a lot of patterns to work up there. It should be a good tournament with lots of limits caught.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Orleans Trail Resort and Marina located at 15857 S. 1525 Road in Stockton, Mo. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for the regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
