LAVONIA, Ga. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Hartwell April 30 for the fourth of five stops in the Savannah River Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“The bass will mainly be in a postspawn mode,” said National Guard pro Brent Ehrler, who finished second at last month’s Walmart FLW Tour on Lake Hartwell presented by Chevy. “There will be a few spawning, but there will be a lot of postspawn bass. Guys could throw a shad-colored swimbait on a ¼-ounce jighead or a Lucky Craft Gunfish 115 for topwater fish. The swimbait would be good for bass in all stages, and guys could throw the topwater over long clay points or into pockets just covering water.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Tugaloo State Park located at 1763 Tugaloo State Park Road in Lavonia, Ga. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Hartwell BFL tournament is being hosted by the Tugaloo State Park.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for the regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
