GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Kentucky-Barkley lakes April 16 for the third of five stops in the LBL Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“The fish are wanting to go to the bank so bad, but the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) keeps fluctuating the water levels,” said Prevacid 24HR pro Dan Morehead. “If it stabilizes or comes on up, fishing could get pretty good. But I could foresee a tough tournament.

“The fish are staging on points and guys are going to catch them on jerkbaits and crankbaits,” Morehead added. “They’ll be bunched up. But when they suspend on this lake, they’re tough to catch.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Moors Resort and Marina located at 570 Moors Road in Gilbertsville, Ky. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Kentucky-Barkley lakes BFL tournament is being hosted by the Marshall County Tourist Commission.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for the regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
