LIVINGSTON, Texas – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Livingston April 2 for the third of five stops in the Cowboy Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Primarily anglers should be fishing along the banks, around docks, near lay-downs or near any wood to be successful in this tournament,” said Walmart FLW Tour pro Jason Reyes of Huffman, Texas. “There are going to be a lot of fish caught due to the spawn that has started. There really should be nothing that will prevent anglers from catching fish.

“Guys will be flipping, using spinnerbaits, crankbaits and frogs,” Reyes added. “It is probably going to take about 20 pounds to win. The quality of the lake has really improved over the last two years. About two or three years ago, it would only have taken 13 to 14 pounds to win; now there are 5- to 7-pounders being caught more than ever.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Waterfront Lodge and Marina located at 371 Navaho Trail in Onalaska, Texas. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
