GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. – National Guard FLW College Fishing is headed to Kentucky-Barkley lakes April 2 for the second of four stops in the Central Division. Just one week prior to the College National Championship on Kentucky-Barkley, 40 college teams will compete for a top award of $10,000 to be split between the school and bass fishing club; $7,500 for the bass club and $2,500 for their school. They are hoping for their chance to advance to the regional championship that could take them one step closer to qualifying for next year’s national championship.

“Water levels are changing on a daily basis,” said OFF! pro Terry Bolton of Jonesboro, Ark. “But by next Saturday they should really have stabilized. The fish will have had a chance to get adjusted and be easier to find. This really is a good time of year to fish the lake, but teams are going to have to pay attention to the current water levels in order to do well.

“I think the tournament is going to be won off the bank,” added Bolton. “The fish should be ganged up, waiting to move up, so should be relatively easy to catch with a jig, crankbait or Carolina rig. It is going to take 15 to 20 pounds to win.”

Anglers will take off from Moors Resort & Marina located at 570 Moors Road in Gilbertsville, Ky., at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Weigh-in will be held at the marina beginning at 1 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The top five teams from each regional tournament advance to the national championship where the first-place team wins $25,000 for their school and $50,000 cash and a Ranger 177TR bass boat with a 90 horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard wrapped in school colors for their fishing club.
