ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to DeGray Lake March 26 for the second of five stops in the Arkie Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“The lake is about 10 feet low right now, and from the midpoint down, it is crystal clear,” said Folgers pro Scott Suggs of Bryant, Ark. “There is absolutely no doubt that some of the fish are going to be on beds. Sight-fishing with tubes will be the way to go. You might also see a couple of guys using wacky worms, but no matter what, they should catch … `em.

“It is going to take about 20 to 22 pounds to win and probably 16 to 18 pounds to get a check.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Iron Mountain Lodge & Marina located at 134 Iron Mountain Marina Drive in Arkadelphia, Ark. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The DeGray Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
