GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Kentucky/Barkley lakes March 26 for the second of five stops in the LBL Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Whether or not the water is rising or falling is really going to determine how anglers will fish and how aggressive the bite is going to be,” said Prevacid pro Dan Morehead of Paducah, Ky. “Right now water levels are fluctuating hourly, so at this point it is anybody’s game.

“If the water comes up and stabilizes, it will be a great tournament,” Morehead went on to say. “Spinnerbaits, flipping jigs, and Rat-L-Traps will all work. I would plan on fishing fast and covering a lot of water. If water levels continue to fluctuate, it won’t be a very fun tournament. Right now it is just a crap shoot.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Kentucky Dam Marina located at 446 Marina Drive in Gilbertsville, Ky. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Kentucky-Barkley lakes BFL tournament is being hosted by the Marshall County Tourist Commission.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
