TAVARES, Fla. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to the Harris Chain of Lakes March 26 for the third of five stops in the Gator Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“The weather is absolutely gorgeous,” said Band-Aid/Neosporin pro Glenn Browne of Ocala, Fla. “They’ll be on the back side of a full moon, so this should be a really fun tournament. I sort of wish I wasn’t going to be at the Walmart FLW Tour event at Lake Hartwell so I could fish it.

“Location, location, location is going to be key,” Browne went on to say. “Guys are going to be in the canals or in the grass up along the banks, either flipping or using topwater baits. Mostly it will be sight-fishing (for) postspawn fish. It is going to take about 20 pounds to win.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Hickory Point Recreational Facility located at 27341 State Road 19 in Tavares, Fla. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
