SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Guntersville March 19 for the second of five stops in the Choo Choo Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“The water’s up, and it’s kind of muddy because of the rain we’ve been having,” said National Guard pro Justin Lucas of Guntersville, Ala. “It’s a little too early for a spawning bite right now, so guys will be looking to use a lipless crankbait, crankbait and spinnerbait to catch their limits.

“It’s going to take a good-sized stringer to win an event there right now,” Lucas added. “Weights should be in the mid-20 range. I think it will take somewhere from 24 to 27 pounds to win it.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Waterfront Tackle and Grill at Goose Pond located at 417 Ed Hembree Drive in Scottsboro, Ala. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Guntersville BFL tournament is being hosted by the Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for the regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
