HEMPHILL, Texas – National Guard FLW College Fishing is headed to Toledo Bend March 19 for the third of four stops in the Texas Division. Forty college teams will compete for a top award of $10,000 to be split between the school ($2,500) and bass fishing club ($7,500).

“Toledo Bend is a phenomenal bass fishery,” said Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Treats pro Jim Tutt. “This is just a great place to have a tournament.”

Tutt said the reservoir is fishing “wide open” right now, and he predicts weights will be heavy for the tournament.

“These guys will have to find a concentration of big females bunched up on a point or creek bed,” Tutt said. “They can’t just beat the bank. They’re going to have to look for something a little offshore – something not just right up on the bank.”

Anglers will take off from Lowe’s Creek Park and Marina located at 105 Lowe’s Creek Park in Hemphill, Texas, at 7 a.m. Saturday. Weigh-in will be held at Lowe’s Creek Park and Marina beginning at 1:30 p.m. Takeoff and weigh-in are free and open to the public.
