MANY, La. – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Toledo Bend Feb. 19 for the first of five stops in the Cowboy Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $9,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“The fishing is good on Toledo Bend right now,” said Walmart FLW Tour pro Jason Reyes of Huffman, Texas. “There will be a lot of good fish caught, the lake is in perfect shape for a lot of big weights to be brought in. There hasn’t been a lot of other tournaments there so there hasn’t been a lot of pressure on the lake. It has been cold the last three weeks but with this warming trend the fish will be setting up nicely and getting ready to spawn. The Rat-L-Trap bite should take off and be the best it has ever been.

“The lake is a little low right now,” Reyes went on to say. “I would target the drains and ditches in the backs of creeks and secondary points. Some guys might have some luck dragging a jig up river outside the grass lines. I really think it is going to take about 25 pounds to win this tournament. The weather always plays a big factor at Toledo Bend. If there is a cold front or a major wind it could really make the fishing tough.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Cypress Bend Park located at 3462 Cypress Bend Park Drive in Many, La. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Toledo Bend BFL tournament is being hosted by Many Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
