APPLING, Ga. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Clarks Hill Lake Sept. 25-26 for the fifth and final stop in the Savannah River Division for a two-day Super Tournament. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.

“The lake is on the verge of busting out, but it’s still been a little too warm,” said Chevy pro Anthony Gagliardi of Prosperity, S.C., who has won over $1.1 million dollars in his professional career. “The fishing could be on the tough side. Anglers should be prepared to move around a lot and to try different things; just because a certain bait works on the first day does not mean it will work on the second. It’s going to take 12 to 15 pounds per day to win this thing.

“The fish have started to move up shallow, into dirty water and into the backs of creeks,” added Gagliardi. “Crankbaits and pitching a big worm into lay-downs and brush piles might be a good strategy. Using a Carolina rig in deep grass might be a good call too.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Wildwood Park located at 6212 Holloway Road in Appling, Ga. Takeoffs are scheduled for 7:15 a.m. while weigh-ins will begin at 3:15 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Clarks Hill Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by Columbia County.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
