WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The Bass Fishing League is headed to the Potomac River Sept. 11-12 for the Shenandoah Division’s two-day Super Tournament. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.

“This time of year you’ll get to do anything you want to catch fish,” said Castrol pro David Dudley of Lynchburg, Va. “The frog bite will be really strong. Pretty much every tournament that’s won up there is won on a frog. But it’s the Potomac, so you can fish a variety of ways as always. Whatever your style or your strength is, you can catch them like that, but nine times out of 10 times it will be won on a frog.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Leesylvania State Park located at 2001 Daniel K. Ludwig Drive in Woodbridge, Va. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. each day while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings following the tournament will qualify for a regional championship where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the FLW American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
