MANY, La. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Toledo Bend Aug. 28-29 for the fifth and final stop in the Cowboy Division series. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.

“You can catch fish anywhere on the lake using a variety of patterns,” said FLW Tour pro Jim Tutt of Longview, Texas, who won his first FLW Outdoors tournament on Toledo Bend. “The fish will be biting, and it will just be a matter of figuring out how you are comfortable fishing. A topwater bite with a frog will work, or a Carolina rig with a worm will work as well. You can fish structures with worms or use deep-diving crankbaits – your choice. It’s probably going to take 50 pounds to win this thing.

“It’s been superhot here this summer, and this tournament will be a test of will, not fish,” added Tutt.

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Cypress Bend Park located at 3462 Cypress Bend Park Drive in Many, La. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Toledo Bend BFL tournament is being hosted by the Many Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers that offers even bigger prizes to qualifiers of the regional championship and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
