Boater Mike Brueggen of La Crosse, Wis., caught a five-bass limit weighing 15 pounds, 10 ounces Saturday to win $4,037 in the BFL Great Lakes Division tournament on the Mississippi River. Brueggen used Lethal Bombs and frogs in Pool 10 to catch his limit. He targeted current breaks and weed mats to sack his limit.

Don Vandermeer of Loves Park, Ill., caught a five-bass limit weighing 14 pounds, 14 ounces to win $2,019 in the Co-angler Division on the Mississippi River. Vandermeer was using white frogs in the Lansing Pool to catch his limit.

Coming up

The next and final BFL Great Lakes Division tournament in 2010 is scheduled for Aug. 28-29, a Super Tournament at the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wis. After that, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 21-23 Regional Championship at Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville, Ky., where boaters will compete for a top prize of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
