RICHMOND, Va. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to the James River July 10 for the fourth of five stops in the Shenandoah Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.
“The really fun thing about the James River is that they have been stocking it with Tiger bass for the past four, five years,” said FLW Tour pro David Dudley of Lynchburg, Va., who is the FLW all-time money winner. “The river is really healthy and in an up cycle. It’s going to take about 15 to 16 pounds to win this tournament.
“The best way to catch fish right now is by cranking in shallow water. Anglers should look for isolated wood in channel-bend swings or at the mouth of feeder creeks.”
Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Osborne Landing located at 9680 Osborne Turnpike in Richmond, Va. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
