CANNELTON, Ind. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to the Ohio River June 26 for the second of five stops in the Hoosier Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“This tournament will probably be won fishing the creeks; Big Deer and Little Deer Creek have been known to win many a tournament,” said FLW Tour pro John Voyles of Petersburg, Ind. “The river is usually tough fishing, and guys will be fishing for five bites.

“The river is pretty dirty, so sight-fishing is not an option. I would use small spinnerbaits, buzzbaits for the big fish, and jigs. The fish should all be spawned out; there might be a straggler on a bed, but most of them will be in their summer patterns. I suspect 8 to 10 pounds will win this thing.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Rocky Point Marina located at 7398 East State Road 66 in Cannelton, Ind. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:45 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
