HENDERSON, N.C. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Kerr Lake June 26 for the fourth of five stops in the Piedmont Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“The topwater bite should be really good for this tournament,” said FLW Tour pro David Fritts of Lexington, N.C. “The fish should be moving out to drop-offs and brush piles, so the early-morning topwater bite is going to be key. I would be using finesse worms, Zoom lizards and, my favorite, Zoom Monster Worms.

“The fish are going to be harder to find because of the heat; some anglers may get lucky and find shallow fish up the river.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Satterwhite Point Marina located at 6254 Satterwhite Point Road in Henderson, N.C. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 1 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Kerr Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Vance County Department of Tourism.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
