Boater Chad Pipkens of Holt, Mich., caught a five-bass limit weighing 27 pounds, 10 ounces to win $3,545 in the BFL Michigan Division tournament on Burt-Mullett lakes. Under partly cloudy skies, Pipkens sight-fished in 10 to 15 feet of water in Burt Lake to bag his limit.

Jay Shaffer of Bath, Mich., caught a five-bass limit weighing 17 pounds, 4 ounces to win $1,733 in the Co-angler Division on Burt-Mullett lakes. Shaffer was using a Jackall Cross Tail in green-pumpkin in 10 to 15 feet of water to catch his spawning fish.

Coming up

The next BFL Michigan Division tournament is scheduled for July 17 at the Detroit River in Trenton, Mich. After the fifth Michigan Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 21-23 Regional Championship at Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville, Ky., where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
