GREENVILLE, Miss. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Ferguson June 5 for the fourth of five stops in the Mississippi Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“This tournament will be typical river-style fishing,” said Folgers pro Scott Suggs of Bryant, Ark., whose career earnings total over $1.5 million. “The fish are going to be shallow, so all you need to do is put your trolling motor down and go. Flipping buzzbaits and spinnerbaits around wooded areas should do the trick. It is way past the spawn, and the fish should be in their summer patterns by now.

“It’s raining hard to the north right now. In the next couple of weeks the water levels and color may change and impact the bite somewhat. It’s going to be a tough bite, but there are still some quality fish to be caught.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Greenville Waterfront Park located at Central Avenue in Greenville, Miss. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Ferguson BFL tournament is being hosted by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
