DAYTON, Tenn. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Chickamauga June 5 for the fourth of five stops in the Volunteer Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“Lake Chickamauga is an awesome lake to fish,” said Goodwill pro Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn. “It’s probably the best lake in the system right now. You can catch fish any way you want. The lake gets a lot of pressure, but it still produces a ton of fish.

“I would start off in the morning with topwater baits like Spooks, buzzbaits or Horny Toads; in the afternoon I would move to an offshore pattern. I really think it will be the offshore bite that wins the tournament. About 50 percent of the fish are in their summer pattern, so you will see the fish both shallow and deep.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Dayton Boat Dock located at 175 Lakeshore Drive in Dayton, Tenn. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
